TED is a left-wing organization that believes in Eugenics, global warming and evil America. We could all recite stories of bad things that happened over the years to women, Blacks, Irish, Italians, Poles, Hispanics, etc., etc. as well as Native Americans, or we could work to make America a great nation. I prefer NOT to bash my country…but to work to make it a great place for all.
The argument here is that Dakota land is not legally part of America. The argument is also that these people are independent of America and did not / do not want to become a part of the body politic of America. Lumping “Blacks, Irish, Italians, Poles, Hispanics, etc., etc. (both men and women)” together into the same plight as Native Americans who were here 60,000 years before Columbus, the Mayflower and all the rest is ignoring their right to be independent and remain so on their own land in their own sovereign nation with a treaty that was signed by the US Government and then broken and ignored simply because their land had value and the USA had the force to take it. Left or right politics has nothing to do with it Vicky. You’re saying “look who Ted is, Ted is leftist” instead of addressing the validity of the points of Ted’s arguments. It is a logical fallacy to attack the man rather than his arguments.
I am 100% agreed with making America a great nation. Let’s start by keeping our word. A man’s word is his bond, it is his honor. Honor is something men have understood for eons because traditionally we have been the ones to fight and die in battles not fought by women in most cultures. Thus perhaps a man’s understanding of honor is not precisely the same as a woman’s. To real men, honor forms his very core and one would even say it forms the foundation of his soul upon which all of the rest of his life (both physical and spiritual) is built. In ancient days family honor was embodied within the weapon of the head of the family, traditionally in his sword, which is why so many legends of great swords exist, including Excalibur. A king with Excalibur was right and fair and honorable above all others – and acted honorably for his land to be great. Kings and leaders embodied the luck of the land and they were the land – and honor made kings and lands great. Many brave American Marine’s and other service men proudly wear Tattoos and patches that state “Death Before Dishonor” …so the question is, Vicky, are you for honor or for dishonor in honoring or dishonoring this treaty? Vicky, if it were your own handwriting and signature on that treaty, would you be acting great and honorable if you broke it because you felt it was to your financial gain to do so? How would you wield honor as a leader in a nation that you would make great? Is the foundation of your soul able to resist the temptation to take by force that which is not yours to take away from those your own hand signed an agreement not to take it?
Look deeply into yourself, into your soul and into your heart – your answer will announce to the world the measure of your nobility or the baseness of your shame. Which? Only you can decide.
I agree with this statement. I’m Hawaiian and know our history of losing land. I live on a reservation. I watch how many lives have been ruined because of Casinos which lure people in and have made many lose their homes and sometimes everything else. True they’ve also done good but you can’t deny the evil part of it too. Now you have the so called “farm” monies that people are getting just if they SAY they wanted to farm and lawyer up. The greed does come full circle sometimes and two wrongs don’t make a right. Just saying.
